Gate Repair Before & After in Rancho Cucamonga, CA

In Rancho Cucamonga, gates take a beating from the Santa Ana winds, the fine dust that works its way into everything, and daily open-close cycles that most homeowners never think about until something fails. Before and after photos tell the truth about our work in a way a service list never can. Each project below follows the same pattern: a written price before we start, a documented photo record when we leave, and a gate that works the way it should. Here’s what actual repairs look like when the work is done right.

Sagging Iron Driveway Gate Reset and Rehung

Before and after: sagging iron driveway gate rehung and aligned in Rancho Cucamonga
Sagging iron driveway gate before and after realignment

The problem: a 14-foot iron driveway gate had dropped nearly two inches at the latch side, which meant the lock wouldn’t engage and the gate dragged across the concrete every time it swung. The cause was a worn hinge post and hinge bolts that had been loose long enough to elongate the mounting holes. We pulled the gate, sleeved the post with a steel insert, replaced both hinge bolts with heavier hardware, and welded the hinge pin holes solid before redrilling them. The gate now clears the driveway by a consistent half inch and latches with a pull you can do with two fingers. Photo log included the post sleeve, the new hinge geometry, and the final gap measurement.

Gate Motor Replacement on a Sliding Driveway Gate

Before and after: sliding gate motor replacement in Rancho Cucamonga
Failed sliding gate motor replaced and limit switches recalibrated

A sliding gate in the Etiwanda area stopped responding to both the remote and the keypad. The motor was drawing current but the gate wouldn’t move, which usually points to a stripped gear or a seized drive shaft. We pulled the cover, found the gear train worn to the point of free-spinning, and replaced the entire motor assembly with a brand-matched unit rather than rewiring the whole system to accept something else. Limit switches were reset to stop the gate a half inch short of the end posts in both directions. The homeowner got a photo series showing the stripped gear, the new motor’s data tag, and the final limit positions. The gate has opened and closed without fault since the replacement, and the written price we provided before touching the tool bag is exactly what the invoice said.

Bent Gate Track Straightened After Vehicle Impact

Before and after: bent sliding gate track straightened in Rancho Cucamonga
Sliding gate track before and after straightening

A delivery truck clipped a sliding gate near the north end of its travel, bending the track and leaving the gate bound up about eight feet from the closed position. The gate would grind, stall, and reverse, which trips the safety circuit and leaves the driveway half open. We cut out the damaged track section, welded in a replacement segment matched to the existing rail profile, and ground the joint flat so the gate rollers pass over it without a bump. The gate now travels the full length with no noise and no hesitation. The photo record we left shows the bent section, the new weld before grinding, and the finished joint.

Photo-Eye Misalignment Causing Intermittent Gate Reversal

Before and after: misaligned gate safety sensor realigned in Rancho Cucamonga
Safety photo-eye realigned and tested after intermittent gate failures

The gate would close about two-thirds of the way and then reverse for no reason the homeowner could find. That’s the classic signature of a photo-eye (the infrared beam that stops the gate if something crosses the path) drifting out of alignment. Ours was off by roughly two inches, enough that a wind-blown branch or even bright afternoon glare would break the beam. We realigned both sender and receiver, tightened the mounting brackets, and added a small shield to block direct sun from hitting the lens. The gate has closed cleanly through dozens of cycles since. The photo record shows the beam path before, the adjusted alignment, and the test sequence we ran with the gate under load.

Broken Gate Hinge Weld Repair on a Pedestrian Gate

Before and after: broken pedestrian gate hinge weld repaired in Rancho Cucamonga
Cracked hinge weld ground out and rebuilt on a pedestrian gate

A pedestrian gate off the side yard had a hinge that snapped clean at the weld, leaving the gate hanging by one leaf and dragging at the bottom corner. This is a common fail point on lightweight tubular gates where the hinge takes all the stress of every open-close cycle. We ground out the old weld, realigned the hinge leaf, and rebuilt the weld in two passes for full penetration. Then we added a small gusset plate behind the hinge to spread the load. The gate swings silently and sits square in the frame. We photographed the crack before grinding, the fresh weld before paint, and the finished gate after a coat of rust-inhibiting primer and color-matched paint.

Worn Gate Roller Replacement on a Cantilever Gate

Before and after: cantilever gate rollers replaced in Rancho Cucamonga
Worn cantilever gate rollers replaced and gate height restored

A cantilever gate off a commercial lot in Rancho Cucamonga had developed a shriek that echoed across the parking lot every morning. The rollers had gone square from years of dust working into the bearings, and the gate was riding low enough to scrape at the far end. We replaced all four rollers with sealed-bearing units matched to the rail size, adjusted the ride height, and lubricated the rail with a dry film that won’t attract the same gritty buildup. The gate now rolls with one hand on the push plate and no noise. Documentation included the old rollers with flat spots, the new roller specs, and the measured ride height before and after.
